Is it the Real World, or is it AI? An Entrepreneur’s “101” Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
Thursday August 21, 2025 9:00am - 10:15am CDT
You’ve heard plenty about Artificial Intelligence being a “game changer” across industries – but what does that mean for your day-to-day work? We asked ourselves this question – and how AI could level the playing field for small businesses – and did some investigating.

We know that as a small business owner, manager, or employee, there’s so much you need to keep up on – so when do you have time to learn how to use AI? Today is the day! In this beginner-focused session, join us as “AI Explorers” as we discuss the basics of Artificial Intelligence. In this “AI 101” session, we will:

• Give you a foundational understanding of how AI “thinks,” including common drawbacks and areas where the tools excel.
• Teach a framework for how to talk to AI using prompt engineering (and suggestions for improving prompts when something goes wonky!)
• Give you examples of how you might use a variety of free or low-cost tools – including, but not limited to ChatGPT! – to increase efficiency in tasks ranging from marketing to administrative tasks to operational planning

You will leave this session with sample prompts to try, tools and resources to explore, and the confidence to embrace being an AI Explorer – starting today!

ADA Title II and You
Thursday August 21, 2025 10:00am - 11:00am CDT
In April 2024, the Department of Justice finalized long-awaited updates to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, setting specific standards for the accessibility of websites, applications, and digital documents. This session provides a clear, actionable overview of the new requirements and what they mean for public-facing digital content. We’ll cover the intersection of legal compliance and inclusive design—what’s now required, how these rules are being enforced, and why it matters not just for state and local governments, but also for nonprofits and federally funded organizations that may be impacted down the line.

From Spreadsheets and Silos to Data-Driven Efficiency
Thursday August 21, 2025 12:30pm - 2:30pm CDT
From Spreadsheets and Silos to Data-Driven Efficiency is a compelling case study in business transformation. If your organization is grappling with scattered data, clunky workflows, and inefficient systems that limit your growth, this session is for you.

Join us to learn how one organization shifted from using dozens of disconnected tools, documents, and manual processes to a centralized, integrated, and scalable custom business solution. By leveraging technology to unify operations, they unlocked major time savings, improved staff productivity, and positioned themselves for growth.

We’ll walk you through the practical steps of evaluating your business systems, identifying where your team’s time is being wasted, and how to prioritize what to fix first. You’ll also see how low-code platforms and smart integrations (APIs) can help build a “single source of truth” that reduces friction across departments—without needing a huge tech team or budget.

Whether you're an early-stage startup or a more established organization looking to scale, this session offers actionable insights for building a smarter, more efficient business foundation.

Workshop Trailer

How do you grow your audience without losing your values? How do you connect with communities that have historically been left out of the conversation?

In this energizing and thought-provoking session, storytelling strategist and rural outreach expert Araceli Esparza invites tech founders, digital creatives, and entrepreneurs to reimagine how they build brand trust in emerging and overlooked markets. Drawing from her lived experience and years of work with nonprofit and business leaders, Araceli shares tested outreach frameworks that prioritize human connection, cultural awareness, and narrative integrity.

This workshop will equip participants to:

Identify and avoid tokenistic marketing practices

Create mission-aligned outreach strategies that resonate with immigrant, rural, and BIPOC communities

Translate inclusive values into product launches, brand campaigns, and community events

Get team and investor buy-in through values-driven messaging and measurable impact

Through hands-on activities and collaborative reflection, participants will leave with a draft outreach event mission statement, new language to describe their purpose, and a deeper understanding of how trust and equity are powerful tools for growth.

Who should attend:
Startups, founders, digital marketers, product designers, creative directors, and social impact entrepreneurs looking to scale their reach while staying rooted in authenticity.

This session is ideal for those who are ready to challenge the status quo and build inclusive strategies that actually work.

Evolution in Entrepreneurship Downtown
Thursday August 21, 2025 4:00pm - 5:00pm CDT
Madison is known for innovation. The spotlight is often focused only on labs and laptops as we are a world class hub for tech and bio health for sure. This panel shifts the lens to the street level, where a new kind of entrepreneurship is thriving—one rooted in experience, expression, aspiration, and a deep connection to place.

Join us for a dynamic conversation with the storefront entrepreneurs, placemakers, and visionaries who are shaping the next chapter of downtown Madison. These are the small business owners and builders who are redefining what it means to innovate—not through code, but through culture. Many bring with them ideas and influences from outside the city—drawn here by Madison’s unique mix of values, workforce, lifestyle, and sense of community—and adapt those ideas to resonate deeply with the local identity.

This is a story of migration, cultural integration, and innovation grounded in belonging. Together, we'll explore how independent businesses are creating something greater than the sum of their parts: a downtown that’s soulful, aspirational, and driving our economic growth.
